If you have ever engaged with Jordan Search Consultants, or even just follow us on social media, you know that our firm highly prioritizes corporate culture. Not only do we help clients identify and define their culture in order to better recruit for cultural fit, but we also practice what we preach internally. When I founded Jordan in 2003, I knew exactly the culture I wanted to build and am proud to say that it’s only become stronger over the past 13 years.
One of the most important aspects of our culture is maintaining a work-life balance. I am a firm believer that balanced employees tend to feel more motivated and less stressed out at work, which thereby increases productivity. In other words, in order to best serve our clients, we all need a little break every now and then!
To help achieve this work-life balance, each year, the entire Jordan Search Consultants team attends a company retreat. This year the retreat took place at The Reserve at Augusta—a beautiful property which I highly recommend! We spent three days focusing on this year’s retreat theme: Relax, Rejuvenate, Refresh. Our leadership team did an incredible job planning a trip with the perfect mix of team building, training, recharging, and reflecting. Here are the highlights:
Team Building Activities: Group dining, Tai Chi, Canvas Painting, Beer tasting, and a brewing education course (complete with complimentary products from O’Fallon Brewery)
Lessons Learned: We spent quite a bit of time learning how to better utilize some of the state- of-the-art tools we are provided. Target Recruit, our database built on a Salesforce platform, provides great value for our clients—you learn something new every time you log in. Training in a group setting gave us the opportunity to share best practices and streamline our processes.
“Aha” Moments: Reviewing this year’s numbers and revealing how well we are tracking toward growth goals for 2016 was a great moment. Much of the team thought our goals were a little aggressive when we started the year, but we are right on track—and it’s truly a team effort. It all starts with our commitment to our clients. Watching our partnerships grow and prosper nationwide has been an incredible motivator.
Lots of Laughter: Comedy and the Jordan crew go hand in hand. Critiquing everyone’s painting skills (or lack thereof) was a lot of fun. Our team does a great job of not taking themselves too seriously in those types of environments. Tai Chi also created a few humorous moments, as I’m sure you can imagine.
In the end, we achieved our goal—everyone left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and recharged. The best part? It seems the entire team has hit the ground running even harder than usual since our retreat. Collaboration always seems to get a significant boost after spending time with the whole team in one location.
